Why your trainwell quote isn't the price on their site

trainwell's FAQ says $149 a month, a landing page says $179, and its signup code shows a price test. What your price depends on, and how to pin it down.

If the price you were quoted for trainwell doesn't match the price on its website, you're not misreading anything. On September 3, 2026, trainwell's own pages showed three different numbers, and its signup flow is set up to show different prices to different people.

I run Bespoke Fit, a competitor, so weigh that. None of this is an accusation. Testing prices is common and legal, and older members keeping older rates is normal. But it means "how much is trainwell" has no single answer, so it's worth knowing what yours depends on.

$149 a month, billed quarterly. That's the FAQ and the homepage: "$149 USD/month (billed in 3-month increments)", a $447 charge every three months.1

$179 a month. A trainwell landing page for remote personal trainers, still live, says: "Why pay over $200/month for a remote personal trainer? Trainwell is just $179/month."2 The page also cites 48,000 clients where the homepage says 52,000, so it's older, but it's indexed and people land on it.

$99 or $179 a month, depending on your group. The signup app at join.trainwell.net is a JavaScript bundle, and it contains a line that decides what to display: if the visitor is in a test called 99_price_hold_out_treatment, show $99/mo; otherwise show $179/mo.3 That's a price test, so two people opening the same signup page on the same day can be quoted different prices.

There's a fourth source. In April 2026 the CEO, Matt Spettel, described the price as "between a hundred and $150 a month", depending on the plan and on which generation of customer you are.4 Generation of customer means older members can be on older rates, which is also normal.

Where it started

In October 2023, TechCrunch reported the service, then called CoPilot, at $99 a month.5 Independent write-ups from spring 2025 describe seeing $199, $179 and $169 at checkout on different plan lengths, and r/trainwell posts from March to May 2025 report the same surprise.6 Those are user reports, not company statements, so treat them as approximate. The direction is the same either way: $99 in 2023, $149 billed quarterly today, and $179 on at least one page.

What your price depends on

The public record points to four things.

  1. Plan length. The FAQ says plans can be monthly, quarterly or annual.1 Only the quarterly price is printed. Monthly is presumably more per month, and annual less, but you have to ask.
  2. When you joined. The "generation of customer" comment means legacy rates exist. If you have one, protect it: know your renewal date, and don't cancel and rejoin expecting the same number.
  3. Which page you came from. The $179 landing page and the $149 FAQ are both live.
  4. Which test group you land in. The signup code decides between $99 and $179 for the displayed monthly price. You won't know which group you're in.

How to pin your price down

Screenshot every price you're shown, with the date. Before you enter a card, ask support for the monthly, quarterly and annual prices in writing, and ask exactly what the first charge after the 14-day trial will be. If they quote you the quarterly plan, the charge is $447, and trainwell's terms say there's no refund for a term once you've paid it, which I cover in trainwell's refund policy.

If you're a Peloton All-Access or App+ member in the US with an iPhone, there's a cheaper published route to the same coaching: Peloton Personal Trainer, powered by trainwell, at $99.99 a month, billed monthly by trainwell after a 14-day trial.7 It's a waitlist beta, and Peloton's page says the coaching is asynchronous with calls for onboarding and occasional check-ins, so read what the calls actually are first.

Why we print one number

Bespoke Fit has one price, and it's the same on every page: $49 your first month, then $299/mo, locked for life, for the first 25 founding members. After those spots fill, new members pay $499/mo, and that's printed too. There's no test running on our signup page, and no monthly rate you have to email us to learn. We're more expensive than trainwell at any of its prices, because every session is a real coach on live video and we cap each coach at 12 members. If that's the coaching you want, the founding rate is the number you'll pay.

Common questions

Is trainwell $99, $149 or $179 a month? All three have been true at once. TechCrunch reported $99 a month in 2023, the FAQ today says $149 a month billed quarterly, and a trainwell landing page still live says $179 a month. The signup flow's code shows a test that displays $99/mo to one group and $179/mo to others. Your price depends on the page you came from, the plan length, when you joined, and which test group you land in.

Why did trainwell's price go up? trainwell hasn't published a reason. What's on the record is the trajectory, $99 a month in 2023 to $149 billed quarterly in 2026, and the CEO's April 2026 description of the price as between $100 and $150 depending on the plan and on which generation of customer you are, which means older members can be on older rates.

How do I find out the real price before I sign up? Screenshot every price you're shown, ask support for the monthly, quarterly and annual figures in writing, and check what the first charge after the trial will be. If you're a Peloton All-Access or App+ member in the US on iOS, the trainwell-powered add-on is $99.99 a month, billed monthly, which is the cheapest published route to the same coaching.

Will Bespoke Fit's price change on me? No. The founding rate is $299 a month, locked for life for the first 25 members, and it's the same number on every page of our site. Your first month is $49. The only way to lose the rate is to cancel and come back later, when you'd rejoin at whatever new members pay then.
