How much does Future cost in 2026

Future is $199 a month. Your first month is $50 on the offer running on future.co today, and the monthly rate drops to $179, $169 or $149 if you prepay for 3, 6 or 12 months.¹²

The prepaid rates are where people get lost. Future doesn't list them on its marketing site, and they don't work the way they look. Cancel a prepaid plan early and Future rebills the months you used at $199.³

The four prices Future publishes

That's roughly 10%, 15% and 25% off the monthly rate. The list comes from a Future help center article on membership plans dated February 5, 2026.²

Two things about those totals. None of them include the $50 first-month offer: each one is just the tier rate times the number of months. And you don't pick a term on the website. The signup flow shows a single price, $50 then $199, and you change plans inside the app afterwards under Profile, Settings, Your Account, Update Membership.²

Billing also starts on the day of your first scheduled workout rather than the day you sign up, and renews automatically on whichever cycle you're on.⁴

Why the price you read online is probably wrong

Three separate things are moving, and most write-ups catch only one of them.

The first-month offer changes. future.co says $50 today.¹ BarBend's workout apps roundup for women, updated May 22, 2026, lists Future at "$199 a month, but your first month is $99".⁵ Garage Gym Reviews' Future page, last updated in May 2024, quotes $125 for the first month, calls it 62% off, and offers a free first month in a product box on the same page.⁶ That page can't be right twice, and 62% off $199 would be about $76 anyway. Each of these numbers may have been live for one link in one week. The one that counts is on your checkout screen.

The prepaid tiers get dropped. BarBend's dedicated Future review, updated May 2025, has them right at $179, $169 and $149.⁷ Plenty of other pages print $199 flat, which is only true if you pay month to month.

And the price has climbed. Garage Gym Reviews records Future at about $150 a month at launch and a rise to $200 in 2023.⁶ Those older numbers are still sitting in search results being quoted back at people.

What happens if you cancel early

Future's refund article says that for prepaid plans, "If you cancel early, we'll refund the unused portion based on our standard $199/month pricing." Its own example: sign up for 12 months, cancel after 1, and Future charges $199 for that month and refunds the rest.³

Take the 12-month plan at $1,788 and quit after 4 months. You get $992 back, you've paid $796, and that's $199 a month. The $149 rate you signed up for never applies. The 25% saving is really a completion bonus, and you only earn it by finishing the year.

On monthly plans you cancel before the next billing date, and there's no refund for a partial month. There's no refund for months where you didn't work out or message your coach. Refunds take 5 to 10 days to land.³ You can also pause for 1 or 2 months once you've been active for 90 days, prepaid plans included, which is more generous than most services offer.⁸

The first month is the exception, and the two versions of it don't match. Future's help center calls it a risk-free first month and says it will refund it if you're not satisfied, by email.³ The homepage words it as "Cancel within 30 days for a full refund."¹ Future's Terms of Use, updated May 8, 2026, say something stricter: fees already paid are "generally non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law", and promotional pricing is non-refundable.⁹ The help center is kinder than the contract. If that refund window is the reason you're comfortable signing up, get it confirmed in writing first.

What $199 a month buys

A dedicated coach, and a good app to train in. Nobody is watching while you use it.

Your coach is a certified fitness professional who builds a long-term plan around your schedule, equipment and injuries, adjusts it week to week from your feedback, and messages you in the app. You meet them on a virtual kickoff call after signup.¹⁰ Future's terms note that some coaches delivering services through the platform are independent contractors rather than employees.⁹

The workouts themselves are app-guided. Your coach's recorded voice introduces the session, you get demonstrations and cues drawn from a library of more than 2,000 exercises, and mid-workout you can flag an exercise to swap it, report your reps, adjust the weight, or tap Record My Form to send your coach a clip.¹¹

A smartwatch isn't required, though Future recommends one so your coach can see your heart rate. Any Bluetooth wearable works: Apple Watch Series 4 or newer on iPhone, Wear OS 3.0 or above on Android.¹² Nutrition is guidance and accountability only, and coaches don't write meal plans or set calorie or macro targets.¹³ The service is US-only and needs a US payment method, phone number and App Store account.¹⁴

No plan puts a coach on the call while you train. The annual tier doesn't change that, and there's no add-on that buys it. The kickoff call is the only scheduled video conversation in the product. Bespoke Fit vs Future sets the two models side by side.

Cost per coached session

Future doesn't sell coached sessions, so it has no per-session price. What you can compare is a month of training at the frequency you'll realistically hit.

The in-person range is Bark's marketplace data, updated January 16, 2026, with New York at $100 to $135 a session.¹⁵

So Future's $199 buys programming and messages from a human. That's a real product, and about the cheapest way to get one coach who knows your name. It just doesn't include anyone watching you lift, which is a different purchase, not a worse one. The whole market sits on one page in what online personal training costs.

Is Future worth $199 a month?

If you train reliably on your own, yes. At $149 the annual plan is competitive with anything else in app-based coaching. BarBend's testers named it their best workout app for women overall, scored the pricing 3.75 out of 5, and listed no live coaching as a con.⁵ Garage Gym Reviews rates the interface and the coach support, and flags the price.⁶

Two cases where it's the wrong buy. If you're shopping because training alone stopped working, this is another app with a human at the other end of a message thread, which is the thing that already didn't work. And if there's a decent chance you'll stop inside the year, take the monthly plan, because the prepaid rate reverts anyway. Common questions

How much is Future per month? $199 a month if you pay monthly, and $50 for your first month on the offer running on future.co right now. Prepaying drops the rate to $179 a month for 3 months, $169 for 6, or $149 for 12. Those four plans are listed in Future's help center rather than on its marketing site.

Does Future have a free trial? No. There is a discounted first month, $50 at the time of checking, and Future's help center says it will refund your first month if you are not satisfied. Some review sites describe that refund window as a 30-day free trial, which is not the same thing, because you pay first and ask for the money back afterwards.

Can you get your money back from Future? For the first month, Future's help center says yes, no questions asked, by emailing help@future.co. After that, monthly plans get no refund for a partial month, and prepaid plans get the unused portion back at the standard $199 a month rate. Future's Terms of Use are stricter than the help center and call fees already paid generally non-refundable, so get the promise in writing if it matters to you.

Is Future cheaper if you pay for a year? On paper, yes. The 12-month plan is $1,788 up front, which works out at $149 a month and saves $600 against paying monthly. You only keep that rate if you finish the year. Cancel early and Future refunds the unused portion at $199 a month, so the months you did use cost the full price.
