Trainiac shut down for consumers, here's where to go

If you went looking for Trainiac and hit a wall, you're not imagining it. As of July 2026, trainiacfit.com describes the app as "exclusively available for Wellhub members," and the only way in is through the Wellhub app. The standalone subscription most Trainiac users signed up for is gone.

Here's what happened, and where to go next.

What actually happened

Gympass bought Trainiac in December 2021. Gympass rebranded as Wellhub in 2024, and Trainiac became "Trainiac by Wellhub," a service inside their corporate wellness platform. Wellhub sells to employers, not individuals, so today the only people who can use Trainiac are employees whose company offers Wellhub on a plan tier that includes it.

I couldn't find a public announcement with an exact date for when individual signups closed, so I won't pretend to know it. What I can verify is the current state: no standalone subscription, Wellhub members only.

What you actually had

Worth spelling out, because "personal training app" covers very different things.

Trainiac gave you a real certified trainer. One person who knew you, built your weekly workouts, and answered your messages in the app. You trained alone, then your trainer reviewed and adjusted. That's async 1-on-1 coaching: a human in the loop, but not in the room.

So there are two honest paths from here. Replace the async model with something nearly identical, or upgrade to live coaching, which Trainiac never offered.

Closest matches: the same async model

Kickoff, around $95/mo. The budget pick for a dedicated human coach, and some insurance and wellness benefits bring the cost near $0 for eligible members, which is worth checking before you pay anyone. The catch: I haven't verified Kickoff as deeply as the others, and pricing varies by plan, so treat that number as a starting point.

The upgrade Trainiac never offered: live 1-on-1 video

Async coaching fixes your plan. It can't fix the rep you're doing right now. Live coaching puts the trainer on a video call with you while you train, watching and correcting in real time.
