How to cancel trainwell, step by step

You cancel trainwell inside the app, in its billing portal, and it takes about two minutes. The part that takes thought is when to do it, because cancelling stops your next charge and nothing else. This is the process as it works on September 3, 2026, and what happens after.

Before you cancel, check two things

Your renewal date. trainwell's standard plan is $149 a month billed in three-month increments, so the charge that lands is $447 and it renews automatically each cycle.¹ Cancelling stops future charges, but it doesn't refund the term you're in. trainwell's terms say so under the heading "No Refunds": you won't be refunded for the current subscription term you paid for, and you keep full access until it ends.² So there's no benefit in waiting. Cancel now and you still get every day you've paid for.

The steps

1. Open the trainwell app. On iOS tap your profile picture; on Android tap the menu icon.
2. Tap Billing. This opens the billing portal. You can also open the same portal in a browser at account.trainwell.net, which is handy if the app is misbehaving.
3. Under Plans, choose Cancel.
4. A cancel popup asks you to tick three boxes acknowledging what cancelling means. Tick them and tap Next.
5. You'll be offered a pause. Confirm that you want to cancel instead.³

That's it. Keep the confirmation screen, or the email if one arrives, until the renewal date has passed with no charge. Your plan, your trainer and the app keep working until the end of the paid term.

If you came in through Peloton

Peloton Personal Trainer, powered by trainwell, is billed by trainwell at $99.99 a month, and you cancel it by emailing support@trainwell.net rather than in the app. Peloton's page says cancellation affects only the add-on and doesn't touch your Peloton membership.⁴ Because it's monthly, the most you can lose to bad timing is one month.

If you were charged after cancelling

First, check the date you cancelled against the date of the charge. If the charge is the renewal that was already due when you cancelled inside the term, that's the no-refund clause working as written. If you cancelled before the renewal date and were charged anyway, email support with both dates and your confirmation, and ask for it to be reversed. The terms allow discretionary refunds, so a clear, polite request with dates has the best chance.²
